This was the only road going south from Stockholm in the 17′th century and it had been used for over thusand years when it ceased being the main road going south at the end of the 17′th century. There are still some parts left of the old road. One part is crossing Årsta fältet (Årsta field).

The Arsta lady had 8 children but only one, Hans Abraham, were growing up to be an adult. The other children died in a very young age in diseases. When Hans Abraham one winter were crossing the Arsta bay on the ice he fell through the ice and drowned. I think he was around 35 years old when he died.

She was a good friend with the famous Swedish poet and song writer Carl Michael Bellman (1740-1795). She used to arrange a harvest party every year in the woods where they were building “leaf rooms” from the trees. It was common to let off cannon shots at a party, about 200-400 shots. One year the man responsible for letting the cannon shots off were so drunk he walked right in front of the cannon when fiering. Not much left of him…

All the servants lived here in the left wing. The Arsta lady’s favorite servant, Katarina,
were drinking a lot (as many did in that time), so the Arsta lady did hide the
spirits in the main building. Katarina trained a crow to warn her when someone were coming interrupting her searching the spirits. The coachman was sometimes so drunk the entire vehicle overturned at a sharp bend.

The Arsta ladys real name was Märta Helena Reenstierna (1753-1841) and she lived here (1775-1841) with her husband Henrik Christian von Schnell (1733-1814. They were mainly growing tobacco on the land area belonging to the residence. It says the founder of Stockholm, Birger Jarl (1210-1266) has also lived here. Märta Helena were riting a diary which has been a great source of documentation from that time. Her diary is now kept at the Nordic Museum in Stockholm, Sweden.
